It’s no secret that the key to creating a healthier life is developing healthier habits. Like we discussed in last month’s blog, You Can’t Achieve Million-Dollar Dreams with Minimum-Wage Habits, it’s committing to the day in and day out completion of small tasks that ends up paying big dividends in your quest for better health in all areas of your life. And there’s no better way to set the stage for a day of successful habits than by developing a morning routine that gets you up and focused on what’s truly important.
Tony Robbins (see Tony’s experience with the EESystem in a video on our homepage), a Christian world-class American author, coach, motivational speaker, and entrepreneurial business owner, offers a roadmap to what he considers the morning habits that put you in the driver’s seat when it comes to controlling your mood and behavior, establishing consistency, and managing anxiety and stress. Let’s take a peek at what Mr. Robbins has to say.
“Imagine waking up every morning not just ready to survive the day but primed to conquer it. Imagine your mind so clear, your energy so focused, and your spirit so unstoppable that nothing can shake you. That is the power of a well-crafted morning ritual,” explains Robbins. It’s a habit that not only sets the tone for your day, but it sets the tone for your destiny. Will you have to get up a little earlier and carve out time to complete this practice in the mornings? Probably. Will it be worth it? Absolutely!
- Claim Your Gratitude. What or who are you grateful for? Before you even get out of bed, acknowledge the many blessings God has bestowed on your life. Your salvation, family, friends, your house, car, health, job, whatever it is that lights you up. Focusing on gratitude trains your mind to focus on abundance, and you become a magnet for positivity.
- Focus on Your Purpose. Once you’re up, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes, and ask yourself, “What am I here to achieve? What do I want to contribute to the world? How do I want to grow? What impact do I want to make?” This isn’t so much about setting your schedule, but it’s more about igniting your deeper why in life. It’s your purpose that guides you, anchors you, and lights your way.
- Move with Intensity. Now that you’re grateful, and you’ve named your purpose, it’s time to wake up your body. We’re not suggesting you go run a marathon. This doesn’t have to be a long workout. It could be a brisk walk, lifting weights, yoga, Pilates, dance, whatever gets your blood flowing and your energy pumping. Physical energy fuels mental energy, so tapping into your physical power unlocks confidence and momentum that carries you through your day.
- Set One Bold Intention. This isn’t one more thing to add to your to-do list. This is something meaningful that pushes you forward. Say it out loud, write it down, make it real. Maybe you need to call someone you love. Maybe you want to tackle that project you’ve been putting off or take a leap of faith that scares you (don’t worry…if it’s God-inspired, He’ll help you). Whatever it is, make it bold. Because when you take one bold action every day, you stop waiting for life to change and start creating the life you deserve.
- A Moment of Certainty. Before you dive into the demands of your day, take a moment to declare, “I am here. I am capable. I am ready.” This is your life, so you get to choose your focus, how you spend your energy, and what path you take. Stand in that certainty because life will test you. There will be obstacles. But when you know, truly know deep in your core that you’re ready, nothing can hold you back.
That was the end of Robbins’ routine, but we’d like to suggest ending your morning ritual in prayer, to acknowledge God and how much we need Him, His guidance, and His strength in every part of our days. This prayer is from Joyce Meyer. You can use this one or create your own but make it brief and confident.
Daily Prayer for Wisdom
Father, I trust You with all my heart, not relying on my own understanding. In all my ways, I acknowledge You, confident that You’ll direct my path.
Today, fill me with the knowledge of Your will through all wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so I may live a life pleasing to You.
I lay down my anxieties, presenting every need with thanksgiving, trusting that Your peace, which goes beyond all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Guide me, Lord, into Your truth, and strengthen my faith as I seek Your presence today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
This morning routine isn’t complicated, yet it holds the power to shift everything. If you do this every day, you aren’t just changing how you start your day, you’re reprogramming your mind and body to go farther and reach higher, to overcome, achieve, and grow. This is how you transform yourself … not in one big leap, but in consistent, intentional daily steps. The key for lifelong success is changing your mindset from viewing personal growth as a period of life to a way of life.
